Why tallow
The oldest moisturizer in the book.
People softened their skin with tallow for centuries before anyone could pronounce “triethanolamine.” Here's why we brought it back.
First: what is it, exactly?
Tallow is rendered beef fat — suet from around the kidneys, melted low and slow until it's clean, golden, and shelf-stable. From grass-fed cattle, it's rich in the same kinds of fatty acids your skin's own oils are made of, along with naturally occurring vitamins A, D, E, and K.
It's not exotic. That's the point — it's the same thing people kept in a jar by the stove and rubbed into their hands all winter, long before the lotion aisle existed.

Tallow's fatty-acid profile closely mirrors the lipids in your own skin, so it absorbs like something familiar rather than sitting on top.

Rich, occlusive fats help skin hold onto its own moisture — which is most of what “moisturizing” actually is.

What tallow won't do.
We'll be straight with you: tallow is a moisturizer, not a medicine. It softens, smooths, and comforts dry skin — beautifully — but it doesn't treat or cure anything, and we won't pretend otherwise. If you're managing a skin condition, your dermatologist is the right person to ask; we're just the folks with the good jar of fat.

Everyone's skin is its own weather system, but tallow's fatty-acid profile is close to your skin's own oils, and most folks — including plenty with easily annoyed skin — find it absorbs cleanly. Start with a small amount on damp skin and see how yours likes it.
No — properly rendered tallow barely smells like much on its own. Ours is scented with whole vanilla beans, which reads soft and real rather than the sharp sweetness you get from a fragrance oil. Lavender, chamomile & calendula, and latte are all on the shelf.
We understand the question. Our tallow comes from cattle raised for food — no animal is ever raised for skincare. Rendering the suet means more of each animal is used and less is wasted. Nose-to-tail, not more-of-everything.
